Job Title – Alimah class teacher
Hours of work: Monday to Friday (5PM – 7:15PM)
Start date: Immediately
Scope of work:
This part time position will involve teaching a group of students who are working towards learning the advanced Islamic education in the evening hours. The applicant will be a motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to learn Islamic studies and apply in their daily lives.
Job Tasks / Responsibilities:
- Prepare lesson plan and homework materials
- Able to adapt the Alimah class plan to each student’s ability and potential
- Maintain appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety within the classroom
- Ability to teach students based on created syllabus for Alimah class
- Follow a process for formal and informal ongoing assessment of students, including report cards, progress reports and marking and do regular follow up with parents and guardians
- Record and file daily attendance and report cards for students
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities
- Incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planning
Qualifications / Skills:
- Must have a degree in Arabic and Islamic studies from an accredited institution
- Must have at least 1-2 years of experience as Alimah teacher (classroom setting preferred)
- Excellent at nurturing and mentoring children
- Must have solid knowledge in both practical and theoretical of Arabic language
- Sound knowledge of Islamic theories and practices
- Reliable, dedicated, ability to work proactively and under own initiative
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented and exceptional organizations skills
